Adoption metrics that survive the board
Most adoption debates are not disagreements about ambition. They are translation errors between product analytics, field reality and finance models.
Start with the decision the metric must support
If the board needs to know whether a pilot should scale, “monthly active users” is rarely sufficient. You need cohort behaviour tied to revenue or cost outcomes — and a definition of “active” that field managers can audit without SQL.
One dictionary, three owners
Product owns the event schema. Operations owns sampling integrity in the last mile. Finance owns how adoption maps to margin. The Execution Sprint produces a one-page dictionary signed by all three — not a slide buried in an appendix.
